• How it works

An electromagnetic coil is placed against the scalp to create a magnetic field that stimulates nerve cells in the brain. The magnetic field is similar in strength to an MRI scanner. 

• What it's used for

rTMS is used to treat a variety of neurological and psychiatric disorders, including depression, PTSD, OCD, Tourette syndrome, and movement disorders. 

• How it's performed

During an rTMS session, you sit in a reclining chair, wear earplugs, and the coil is positioned against your head. The treatment lasts about 30 to 40 minutes. 

• Safety

rTMS is considered safe and effective, with little risk of serious side effects. The magnetic field can safely penetrate the scalp and skull without pain
